My first day of classes at the French university was awful. Every class I went to didn't happen. Me and a room full of French kids just sat there like idiots hoping a professor would show and none ever did. I am so ridiculously frustrated with the entire school system here, with the French kids that stop talking to me when they find out I'm American, with my crazy french roommate and with baguettes and my idiot program director and everything.
It really isn't so bad, I'm just sick, walking six miles a day, and getting minimal sleep. The wonderful "FRANCE FRANCE FRANCE!" euphoria has definitely worn off. I love the markets, I love the little french kids running around screaming, I love the scooters, I love the weather. It's not all bad.
So I was talking to my grandmother about things you can't find in France, so I am going to start a list.
- cheddar cheese
- mattress pads
- crackers
- cotton balls

It's cold here, and its not even pretty yet, you're not missing that. It will get better.
-who else would this be.. your Nina..
The drama has followed you from Savannah to France. Chin up, things will get better!
Boo terrible first day of classes and asshole French people. Hooray Adrienne! Sorry, I really love those Red Stripe comercials.
It sucks that things are going poorly right now. I've had several friends go abroad for a year (two in Spain, one in Scotland, one in France) and they all seem to hit a bad patch after that euphoria that you speak of has worn off...then it gets better.
The thing that gets me is the lack of cheddar cheese. I mean, c'mon French people! Your country is all about cheese! I'd be happy as long as I could find beer and wine.
